President Xi Jinping, General Secretary of the CPC Central Committee, the President of the State, and the Chairman of the Central Military Commission, recently made important instructions on the work of national economic and technological development zones, pointing out that the construction of national economic and technological development zones is a significant measure for China to advance reform and opening up. Over the years, these zones have adhered to expanding openness, deepening reform and innovation, working diligently and pioneering, making positive contributions to the construction of a new open economic system, regional coordinated development, and high-quality industrial development.

Xi Jinping emphasized that in the new era and new journey, national economic and technological development zones must deeply implement the spirit of the 20th National Congress of the Party and the 2nd and 3rd Plenary Sessions of the 20th Central Committee, adhere to the Party's comprehensive leadership, implement the new development philosophy, focus on advancing the Chinese path to modernization, continuously stimulate innovation vitality and endogenous power, actively participate in building a new development pattern, and promote deep-level reforms and high-quality development through high-level opening up. They should take the lead in reform and opening up, further improve the system and mechanisms for high-level opening up; actively participate in the high-quality joint construction of the Belt and Road, expand international cooperation, innovate in investment attraction methods, and help build the "Invest in China" brand; consolidate and enhance the industrial foundation of advanced manufacturing, promote the high-end, green, and digital transformation of industries, build digital and future industries, and develop new productive forces according to local conditions.

The National Economic and Technological Development Zone Anniversary Symposium was held in Tianjin. He Lifeng, Member of the Political Bureau of the CPC Central Committee and Vice Premier of the State Council, conveyed President Xi Jinping's important instructions and delivered a speech at the meeting. He Lifeng emphasized that President Xi's important instructions are the fundamental guidelines and action directives for the work of national economic development zones in the new era and new journey. It is necessary to deeply study and implement President Xi's important instructions, fully understand the new situation faced by national economic development zones, serve the overall situation, and create a test field for institutional and mechanism reforms and innovations. Economic development zones should take the lead in promoting high-level opening-up, build demonstration zones for the development of new productive forces tailored to local conditions, strive to be the promoters of regional openness and coordinated regional development, and become a vital force in driving economic transformation and upgrading and serving the construction of a new development paradigm, in order to open up new prospects for the work of economic development zones.
