Sinwar's body as a bargaining chip? Israel has a new idea.
On the evening of the local time, Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu convened a security cabinet meeting in Tel Aviv. According to a report by The Times of Israel, Netanyahu's spokesperson stated in a statement that the meeting lasted for about an hour, during which a "new proposal" for reaching an agreement on the exchange of captives was presented and its feasibility was studied.
The report also stated that an Israeli official, prior to the meeting, said that Israel is seeking an opportunity to end the conflict in the Gaza Strip with a prisoner exchange agreement following the death of Hamas's former leader Sinwar, with Sinwar's body being used as a bargaining chip in the negotiations. The Israeli Prime Minister's Office declined to confirm this claim and stated that the war will not end until all Israeli objectives are achieved.
According to a report by CNN, an Israeli official stated that on the same day, the director of the Israeli National Security Agency (Shin Bet), Nadav Argaman, met with Major General Abbas Kamel, the director of Egyptian intelligence, in Cairo, Egypt. During the meeting, they discussed how to advance negotiations on a ceasefire and the exchange of detainees.
