The two-day 2024 Annual Meeting of the China Development Forum came to an end on March 25 at the Diaoyutai State Guesthouse in Beijing. On the morning of March 25, at the symposium on "Opportunities for China's Sustainable Development and International Cooperation" hosted by Long Guoqiang, Deputy Director of the Development Research Center of the State Council, Jin Zhuanglong, Minister of Industry and Information Technology, Guo Tingting, Vice Minister of Commerce, and more than 10 heads of multinational companies exchanged speeches on how to seize the opportunities of high-quality development of China's economy and high-level opening up to the outside world.

Jin Zhuanglong pointed out that China is accelerating the promotion of new industrialization, integrating high-quality development throughout the entire process, leading industrial innovation with scientific and technological innovation, accelerating the application of scientific and technological innovation results, transforming and upgrading traditional industries, consolidating and upgrading advantageous industries, cultivating and strengthening emerging industries, and advancing the layout and construction of future industries., promote the continuous optimization and upgrading of industrial and supply chains, and accelerate the construction of a modern industrial system led by scientific and technological innovation and supported by advanced manufacturing.

Guo Tingting said that China will further expand high-level opening up to the outside world and create more market opportunities through opening up to promote development. She said that she will continue to build the "Invest in China" brand so that more foreign-funded companies can invest in China and take root in China for development with peace of mind.

At the meeting, many heads of global multinational companies expressed their high concern for China's economic development and great enthusiasm for common development with China, as well as their determination and confidence to invest in China, and shared their new investment plans and suggestions on how to better seize China's opportunities.

Amin Nasser, President and CEO of Saudi Aramco, said that emission reduction, materials research and development and the chemical industry are key areas for cooperation between Saudi Aramco and Chinese strategic partners. Saudi Aramco is one of the foreign companies investing the most in China in 2023, but Saudi Aramco is not just an investor."On the road to economic development, we hope to become China's preferred partner because we have clearly seen new opportunities."

Rui Sibo, President and CEO of FedEx Group, said in his speech that China is the core of FedEx's global economy and hopes to better connect with China and promote the development of global supply chains.

The three parallel symposiums held on the afternoon of the 25th focused on global economic growth trends, digitally enabled industrial transformation, and the release of new consumption and domestic demand potential. Yang Weimin, member of the Standing Committee of the 13th National Committee of the Chinese People's Political Consultative Conference, deputy director of the Economic Committee, and former deputy director of the Office of the Central Financial and Economic Leading Group; Wang Yiming, vice chairman of the China Center for International Economic Exchanges and former deputy director of the Development Research Center of the State Council; Liu Liehong, director of the National Data Bureau; Vice Mayor of Beijing City Sima Hong; Member of the Standing Committee of the Shanghai Municipal Party Committee and Vice Mayor Huayuan; and Li Wenhai, Vice Mayor of Tianjin City, delivered keynote speeches.

During the two-day session, Chinese and foreign representatives attending the meeting focused on the momentum and prospects of China's sustainable development, opportunities for China's sustainable development and international cooperation, carbon neutrality and global climate governance, artificial intelligence development and governance, big health industry, and digital enabling industry transformation, The eight major themes of new consumption and the release of domestic demand potential, and the global economic growth trend conducted high-quality and constructive communication and exchanges around key and cutting-edge issues in China's development and the world's development. It clearly demonstrated to the world the resilience and vitality of China's sustained economic development, and condensed consensus and wisdom to strengthen China's foreign cooperation and development.

During the annual meeting of the forum, a number of closed-door seminars were also held. Participants said that although the 2024 annual meeting period is short, it is rich in content and fruitful.
