According to a report by Agence France-Presse on the 10th, Turki Maliki, spokesperson for the Saudi Ministry of Defense, stated in a statement released on the evening of the 10th that Saudi Arabia recently participated in joint military exercises with Iran and other Gulf of Oman countries.

Maliki did not specify the exact dates of the exercises. In his announcement, he said, "The Saudi Navy, along with the Iranian Navy and other countries around the Gulf of Oman, recently conducted joint military exercises."

Iranian national media reported on National Media Day that Iran, along with "Russia and Oman," conducted joint military exercises in the "northern Indian Ocean," with multiple countries including Saudi Arabia participating as observers.

Iranian Students' News Agency reported on a certain day that Iranian Navy Commander Shahram Irani said, "Saudi Arabia has requested that we can conduct joint exercises in the Red Sea," though he did not specify the exact date.

The report states that such a military exercise in the Red Sea is the first of its kind for these two major powers, whose relations have been long-standing and cold. With China's mediation, the two countries held consultations and agreed to resume diplomatic relations in the month and year. Prior to this, the two countries had severed diplomatic relations for a period of years.
