Zhu Fenglian, spokesperson for the Taiwan Affairs Office of the State Council, responded that we resolutely oppose the United States' sale of weapons to China's Taiwan region, a stance that is consistent and clear. The U.S. has repeatedly violated its commitment by its leaders not to support "Taiwan independence," thereby encouraging "Taiwan independence" adventurism and undermining peace and stability in the Taiwan Strait region. We firmly oppose this and urge the U.S. to adhere to the One-China principle and the provisions of the three joint communiqués between China and the U.S., particularly the "August 17th" communiqué, to halt arming Taiwan and to cease sending any erroneous signals to the "Taiwan independence" forces.
