Another Major Contract Signed! Settled in RMB
On [date], Hudong-Zhonghua Shipbuilding (Group) Co., Ltd., affiliated with China State Shipbuilding Corporation Limited, in collaboration with China Shipbuilding Trading Co., Ltd. and COSCO Shipping Lines Co., Ltd., a subsidiary of China COSCO Shipping Corporation Limited, signed a contract in Shanghai for the construction of [number] conventional fuel-powered large container ships.
This marks the second time within ten days that the Renminbi has been used as the settlement currency to secure a new large order, following the agreement between Hudong-Zhonghua and the Canadian company Seaspan to settle in Renminbi for the construction of four identical vessels. This order brings together the four Chinese elements of "Chinese shipowners, China Classification Society, Chinese shipyard, and Renminbi settlement."
The large container ship is another green and environmentally friendly container vessel independently developed and designed by Hudong-Zhonghua, with a total length of approximately meters, a molded breadth of meters, a molded depth of . meters, a maximum container capacity, and provides refrigerated container slots, classed by China Classification Society.
According to the plan, the first ship will commence construction in the month and year, with the entire series of ships to be completed and delivered within the year.
In recent years, the cases of RMB settlement in China's shipbuilding sector have gradually increased, reflecting from one aspect the continuous enhancement of the international status of the RMB and the rapid development of China's shipbuilding industry. Adopting RMB settlement helps reduce exchange rate risks, enhance the profitability of Chinese shipbuilders, and improve their market competitiveness. For shipowners, it can lower financing costs and increase trade efficiency.
Since the beginning of this year, the global market for large container ships has remained robust. As a leading enterprise in the construction of large and ultra-large container ships, Hudong-Zhonghua has consistently introduced new ship models and secured new orders, guided by market demand. As of now, Hudong-Zhonghua has accumulated orders for four batches of three types of large container ships this year, with the amount settled in RMB reaching over 10 billion yuan, making new contributions to the internationalization of the RMB.
