The list of the sixth batch of national industrial heritage sites has been announced, with the Wuhan Iron and Steel Corporation's 1.7-meter hot strip mill project being selected.
The Ministry of Industry and Information Technology recently officially announced the sixth batch of national industrial heritage sites, with the One-Meter-Seven Rolling Mill Project successfully making the list. Previously, the No. 1 Blast Furnace of Wuhan Iron and Steel had been selected as part of the fifth batch of national industrial heritage sites.
In accordance with the "Measures for the Administration of National Industrial Heritage" (MIIT Law Enforcement [ ] No.) and the "Notice of the General Office of the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology on Organizing the Recognition of the Sixth Batch of National Industrial Heritage and the Review of the First and Second Batches" (MIIT Office Law Enforcement Letter [ ] No.), after the procedures of voluntary application, recommendation by local industrial and information technology authorities and central enterprises, formal examination, expert review, on-site verification, and social publicity, the list of the Sixth Batch of National Industrial Heritage and the first and second batches of National Industrial Heritage that have passed the review is officially announced.
The Ministry of Industry and Information Technology requires local industrial and information technology authorities and relevant central enterprises to further strengthen the overall and systematic protection of industrial heritage in accordance with the relevant requirements of the "National Industrial Heritage Management Measures." Efforts should be made to continuously improve the hierarchical and classified protection system, effectively enhance protection capabilities and levels, and persistently promote the inheritance and utilization of industrial heritage, allowing it to rejuvenate and shine in the new era.
In the years from its commissioning to its decommissioning, the 1.7-meter rolling mill project at Wuhan Iron and Steel Corporation (WISCO) continuously surpassed its designed production capacity of 1 million tons per year, reaching a peak capacity of 1.7 million tons per year, and cumulatively produced 100 million tons of steel.
In the year, the State Council established the "Four-Three" plan for equipment importation, with the "one-meter-seven" rolling mill at Wuhan Iron and Steel Corporation (WISCO) included. In the year, a hundred thousand troops gathered in Qingshan to launch the "one-meter-seven" project campaign. On the day of the month, the "one-meter-seven" hot rolling production line at WISCO successfully completed its first trial rolling, marking an important milestone in the modernization of China's steel industry. On the day of the month, Deng Xiaoping, the chief architect of China's reform and opening-up, made a special visit to the "one-meter-seven" production line.
On the date, the "1.7-meter" production line was officially shut down and preserved as an industrial heritage, thus beginning a new chapter.
