People's Daily Online: In the first three quarters, the newly added installed capacity of renewable energy power generation nationwide reached . billion kilowatts, a year-on-year increase of %.
On a certain date, the National Energy Administration held a regular press conference. Zhang Xing, Deputy Director General of the General Office of the National Energy Administration and spokesperson, stated at the conference that during the first three quarters of the year, the National Energy Administration coordinated energy security and low-carbon development, accelerated the planning and construction of a new energy system, steadily promoted the green and low-carbon transformation of energy, and made every effort to push the development of renewable energy to new heights.
The installed capacity of renewable energy continues to achieve new breakthroughs. Zhang Xing introduced that in the first three quarters of the year, the newly added installed capacity of renewable energy power generation nationwide reached 1.29 billion kilowatts, a year-on-year increase of 98.3%, accounting for 76.4% of the newly added power generation capacity. Among them, hydropower added 16.79 million kilowatts, wind power added 33.48 million kilowatts, solar power added 82.41 million kilowatts, and biomass power added 2.69 million kilowatts, with the combined newly added capacity of wind and solar power exceeding 100 million kilowatts.
Data shows that by the end of the month, the national installed capacity of renewable energy reached 1.22 billion kilowatts, an increase of 14.8% year-on-year, accounting for approximately 49.6% of the total installed capacity in China. Among this, hydropower accounted for 413 million kilowatts, wind power for 365 million kilowatts, solar power for 470 million kilowatts, and biomass power for 41 million kilowatts.
Renewable energy generation has been steadily increasing. Zhang Xing stated that in the first three quarters of the year, the national renewable energy generation reached 2.16 trillion kilowatt-hours, an increase of 11.2% year-on-year, accounting for approximately 13.0% of total power generation. Among this, the combined generation of wind and solar power reached 1000 billion kilowatt-hours, a year-on-year growth of 20.8%, roughly equal to the electricity consumption of the tertiary industry (1000 billion kilowatt-hours) during the same period, and exceeding the electricity consumption for urban and rural residential use (900 billion kilowatt-hours).
