Guangdong, Hong Kong, Macao and Dawan District Economic Aggregate Exceeds 14 trillion Yuan, Comprehensive Strength to a Higher Level

The reporter learned from the Dawan District Office of Guangdong Province that the total economic volume of Guangdong, Hong Kong and Macao exceeded 14 trillion yuan in 2023, creating 1/9 of the country's total economic volume with less than 0.6% of the country's land area, and its comprehensive strength has risen to a higher level.

Zhu Wei, executive deputy director of Dawan District Office of Guangdong Province, said that the total economic volume of Dawan District in 2018 was 10.8 trillion yuan, up 3.2 trillion yuan in five years. With the in-depth implementation of the Outline Development Plan for the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area, especially since 2023, focusing on the new positioning of "one point, two places", Guangdong has joined hands with Hong Kong and Macao to accelerate the construction of a world-class Greater Bay Area and the best-developed Bay Area, with obvious results.

Scientific and technological innovation capabilities continue to improve. The construction of an international science and technology innovation center, a comprehensive national science center, and a high-level talent highland in the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area has been comprehensively promoted, and "important national weapons" such as Pengcheng Laboratory and Guangzhou Laboratory have been laid out one after another. The Greater Bay Area already has more than 75,000 national-level high-tech enterprises, and a number of leading technology companies such as Huawei, Tencent, BYD, Midea, and Gree have emerged. The "Shenzhen-Hong Kong-Guangzhou" technology cluster ranks second in the world for four consecutive years.

The internal and external network is accelerated and improved. The "Greater Bay Area on Track" has become more complete, the Hong Kong-Zhuhai-Macao Bridge has been completed and put into operation, and the main cities in the Greater Bay Area have basically achieved one-hour access. The annual passenger throughput capacity of the Greater Bay Area airport cluster exceeds 280 million passengers, and the annual container throughput capacity of the port cluster exceeds 85 million TEUs. The route network covers major cities around the world and major trading ports in the world.

The construction of major cooperation platforms has been accelerated. Hengqin was officially closed for customs operations on March 1 this year. Qianhai issued the country's first investor protection regulations and actively promoted cooperation with Hong Kong in modern service industries such as finance and law; Nansha has launched three major exchanges such as futures, shipping and data, and the "going global" comprehensive service base for Chinese enterprises has been unveiled; Hetao Shenzhen-Hong Kong scientific and technological innovation cooperation is starting to grow well.

The level of market integration has gradually improved. A number of landmark matters such as "Hong Kong and Macao Drug and Device Access","Bay Area Social Security Access","Cross-border Financial Access" and "Cross-border Financial Access" for government services have been implemented. Since the implementation of the policies of "Macao Vehicles Going North" and "Hong Kong Vehicles Going North", the number of single-brand vehicles from Hong Kong and Macao entering and exiting the country through the Zhuhai Highway Port of the Hong Kong-Zhuhai-Macao Bridge has exceeded 2 million. The three places jointly announced that the number of "Bay Area Standards" covering food, traditional Chinese medicine, elderly care and other fields has reached 183.
