Today, the China Coast Guard issued a statement on the Huangyan Island issue.

The Huangyan Island is an inherent territory of China. For a long time, China has continuously, peacefully, and effectively exercised sovereignty and jurisdiction over the Huangyan Island. Recently, the Philippines has frequently dispatched military, police, naval vessels, aircraft, and government ships to provoke incidents in the nearby sea and airspace of the Huangyan Island, seriously infringing upon China's territorial sovereignty and maritime rights and interests. The Philippine side has also encouraged fishing boats to illegally operate in the Huangyan Island lagoon. According to information obtained, some Philippine fishing boats are suspected of engaging in illegal activities such as poisoning fish and catching endangered aquatic wildlife, damaging the fragile ecosystem in the relevant waters.

The China Coast Guard will continue to strengthen its patrol and law enforcement in the territorial sea of the Huangyan Island and related waters in accordance with laws and regulations such as the "Coast Guard Law of the People's Republic of China," the "Fishery Law of the People's Republic of China," and the "Marine Environmental Protection Law of the People's Republic of China," and in reference to the provisions of international law such as the "United Nations Convention on the Law of the Sea." This is to resolutely maintain good order in the relevant waters, protect the ecological environment and biological resources in the relevant waters, and steadfastly defend national territorial sovereignty and maritime rights and interests.
