US State Department spokesperson Matthew Miller said that the US has received notification from Israel that a new crossing point will be opened in the Gaza Strip of Palestine, allowing more humanitarian aid to enter Gaza.

Miller said that the Israeli side informed the US that they hope to open a new crossing in the Kisufim area of southern Gaza Strip "within the next few days."

On the same day, US Defense Secretary Lloyd Austin said that Israel has made some efforts in improving the situation for aid supplies entering Gaza, but "much more needs to be done."
