The 7th China International Import Expo opened at the National Exhibition and Convention Center (Shanghai). Since its inception, the Expo has continuously established itself as a global hub for the launch of new products, cutting-edge technologies, and innovative services. The first six editions of the Expo have showcased nearly representative new products, technologies, and services, with cumulative intended turnover exceeding $70 billion.

This year, the CIIE has introduced a new special zone for advanced materials for the first time, upgraded the innovative incubation zone, making it more tech-focused, and showcased numerous new technologies and products that have fully met the audience's expectations.

Can we have "scent subtitles" while watching movies? When characters in a film are in nature, the audience can smell the fragrance of grass and flowers; when delicious food appears in the film, the audience can also experience the aroma wafting towards them. Now, imagination has become reality. At the innovation incubation zone of the China International Import Expo, the company "Scent Kingdom" has achieved digital processing of scents, allowing for the editing, storage, transmission, and reproduction of smells.

Smart power shoes that enable the wearer to walk at running speed; photonics chip display technology that turns transparent media like glass and acrylic into high-definition displays... These innovative technologies are all from the Innovation Incubation Zone at the CIIE.

In the year, the CIIE first established an Innovation Incubation Zone. As an international innovation platform that integrates project display, capital connection, and market expansion, since its establishment, it has already seen more than projects board the high-speed train of the CIIE. This year, the Innovation Incubation Zone has achieved a new breakthrough in scale, focusing for the first time on four major tracks: digital economy, green low-carbon, life sciences, and manufacturing technology, showcasing a total of innovative projects.

The UK incubator participated in the exhibition for the first time this year. As a partner of the UK special zone in the innovation incubation zone of the China International Import Expo, Lu Chengkuan, Global Co-President of the UK Incubator Group and President of Yiji China, introduced that this year they have brought over ten high-quality overseas participating teams, covering projects in cutting-edge technological fields such as artificial intelligence, new energy, new materials, and life health.

"We want to help some outstanding overseas tech entrepreneurs and top-tier technical talents expand into the domestic market. Currently, many of the projects we have incubated in the UK have secured RMB financing," said Lu Chengkuan. "What we value is not just the Chinese market, but also the rapid technological iteration in recent years within the country."

At this year's CIIE, the low-altitude travel innovator Yu Feng Future once again joined forces with Ampaire, an electric propulsion system service provider for aircraft based in Los Angeles, California, to bring the "flying taxi" manned aircraft into the CIIE, becoming one of the most eye-catching exhibits at this year's event. On-site, the "First Flight Experience Officer" activity was also open, attracting a large number of visitors to experience firsthand the new lifestyle of commuting to work by "flying" in the future.

Lower manufacturing and maintenance costs, combined with the cost advantages of unmanned driving and pure electric energy, have reduced the overall comprehensive operating costs of electric vertical takeoff and landing (eVTOL) to around % of those of helicopters. Xie Ling, founder and CEO of Yu Feng Future, stated that according to preliminary estimates, the price of riding in an eVTOL developed by Yu Feng Future in the future will only be slightly higher than that of today's taxis. Moreover, once the product achieves large-scale application, the price will continue to decrease, becoming a true "air taxi."

At the CIIE, one can also "visit the stars." Michelin has created a themed exhibition booth called "Michelin Adventure," featuring the Asian debut of its lunar rover's puncture-proof tires. Gao Dehua, General Manager of Michelin China R&D Center, explained that on the moon, which lacks oxygen and an atmosphere, temperature fluctuations are extreme and the terrain is complex and ever-changing.

The technological advancements and scientific progress showcased by this project will help Michelin realize its dream of participating in space exploration activities at an earlier date, said Gao Dehua. "More importantly, through the CIIE, we are able to promote the implementation of innovative achievements in China and influence the industry, thereby jointly creating a greener, more efficient, and smarter industrial ecosystem."
