Newsweek cited Turkish media reports stating that Erdogan made the remarks to reporters on a plane after visiting Saudi Arabia and Azerbaijan.

"As the Republic of Turkey and its government, we have severed our relations with Israel. Currently, we have no relations with Israel. That's it," Erdogan said.

The Newsweek reported that Erdogan mentioned the current "genocide" situation in Gaza and Lebanon, stating that the regions urgently need humanitarian aid and an immediate ceasefire. He said, "As you know, efforts are intensifying to continue applying pressure on Israel and to take coercive measures against the country in accordance with international law."

According to media reports, on a certain date this year, the Turkish Ministry of Trade announced that due to the escalating humanitarian disaster in the Gaza Strip caused by Israel's actions, Turkey has decided to suspend all import and export trade with Israel.
