Next to China's fourth-generation offshore engineering installation vessel "Zhi Yuan Hao" is the offshore engineering crane ship "Zhi Gao Hao," which was completed around the same time. These two vessels were jointly designed and complement each other, forming the optimal combination for China's offshore engineering installations. They can operate in waters kilometers away from the shore, providing strong support for China's offshore wind power projects in deep and distant seas.

This offshore wind power "Gemini" installation vessel represents China's fourth-generation wind power marine engineering equipment and is also the latest generation of wind turbine installation vessel globally. Compared to third-generation marine engineering equipment, it has achieved a qualitative improvement in technology and performance. This "Gemini" pair of marine engineering vessels is among China's strongest in terms of wind and wave resistance, boasting the best comprehensive installation capabilities, highest operational efficiency, and most advanced intelligent features. Chief Engineer Zhang Weifeng explained that the two vessels can complete the installation of a single offshore wind turbine in just two to three days, marking a % increase in installation speed compared to third-generation wind turbine installation vessels. Additionally, they can withstand -level strong winds and -meter waves, positioning them as core equipment in China's efforts to advance large-scale development of deep-sea wind power.

As the fourth-generation marine engineering installation vessels in our country, the "Zhihao" and "Zhiyuan" ships excel in operations such as deep-sea lifting and pile driving. What unique designs and advanced technologies do they possess? Next, follow our reporter on board to get a close-up look at these two powerful tools for offshore wind power installation.

These two vessels are the perfect pair for offshore equipment installation, each excelling in their own specialties. The "Zhihao" primarily handles lifting and foundation pile driving, resembling a "Popeye" with its incredibly powerful "arms." The massive red pile cylinder at the stern, along with the meter-long boom at the top, forms its main lifting system. Over here, the enormous anchor-like structure is its main hook, functioning like a human hand, capable of hoisting tons of cargo—equivalent to lifting several family cars at once. It can rotate a full degrees, doubling the rotation speed compared to the previous generation of offshore installation vessels.

The reporter visited the "Zhiyuan" and discovered that the most significant difference from the "Zhigaohao," which operates while floating on the sea surface, is the "long legs" of the "Zhiyuan," which extend several meters. These are the gray structures behind the reporter. This feature allows the ship to anchor deeply into the seabed, enabling it to perform installation operations for offshore wind turbines in waters several meters deep. The cylindrical red tower is the crane of the "Zhiyuan," which can lift cargo up to a height equivalent to several stories. The final installation tasks of the offshore units, especially the installation of the nacelles and blades of the wind turbines, are completed by this crane.
