At a press conference held by the State Council Information Office on April 12, Wang Lingjun, deputy director-general of the General Administration of Customs, introduced that in the first quarter, China's imports and exports to BRI countries increased by 5.5%, which was 0.5 percentage points higher than the overall growth rate, and maintained a good momentum of development.

According to Wang Lingjun, from the perspective of import, the "Chinese market" continues to bring development opportunities for various countries. In the first quarter, China imported 2.14 trillion yuan from countries involved in the BRI, representing an increase of 3.6%. Crude oil from the Middle East, natural gas from Central Asia, and metal ores from South America - various advantageous commodities from countries involved in the BRI are exported to China. At the same time, China has been continuously promoting the access of high-quality agricultural and food products. In the first quarter, agricultural products imported from countries involved in the BRI amounted to 149.87 billion yuan. Imports of sesame seeds from Pakistan, black tea from Sri Lanka, cranberries from Peru, etc., all achieved a double-digit growth. High-quality agricultural products from many countries are entering thousands of households in China through the "Belt and Road", which is a path of common development and prosperity.

From the perspective of exports, "Made in China" has continued to provide a stable supply for countries. In the first quarter, China's exports to countries participating in the Belt and Road Initiative amounted to 2.68 trillion yuan, an increase of 7%. China has strengthened industrial cooperation with countries participating in the Belt and Road Initiative, and exports of high-tech intermediate products, such as electronic information, instruments and meters, and high-end equipment to countries participating in the Belt and Road Initiative have all achieved double-digit growth, providing support for industrial development and technological progress in relevant countries. "Made in China" effectively meets the diversified consumer demand of countries participating in the Belt and Road Initiative, and exports of automobiles, home appliances, clothing and accessories increased by 30.9%, 19.4% and 6%, respectively. From daily consumer goods to large durable goods, they are widely welcomed by consumers.

China and partner countries continue to deepen cooperation in the infrastructure sector to enhance the long-term development capabilities of partner countries. In Q1, China exported RMB200.4 billion worth of contracted projects to partner countries, with exports to ASEAN, the Middle East, and Central Asia growing by 31.4%, 169.3%, and 3.6%, respectively. Exports of photovoltaic products exceeded RMB30 billion, and over 120,000 sets of renewable energy generators, including solar and wind power, were exported, supporting energy transformation and green and low-carbon development in partner countries.
