On April 8, the Minister of Commerce, Wang Wentao, and the French Brandy Enterprise and Industry Association held talks in Paris, France, to exchange views on the cooperation of the French brandy industry with China.

Wang Wentao pointed out that the anti-dumping investigation on EU brandy initiated by the Chinese side was launched at the application of the domestic industry, did not target any specific EU member state, and did not prejudge the results of the investigation. The Chinese side will conduct the investigation in an open and transparent manner in accordance with Chinese laws and WTO rules, fully guaranteeing the rights of interested parties.

Wang Wentao said that this year marks the 60th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between China and France, and the Sino French economic and trade cooperation has broad prospects. The Chinese side is willing to strengthen cooperation with French business community to promote stable development of Sino-French economic and trade relations. China has a super large-scale market advantage and huge consumption potential. 2024 is China's "Consumption Promotion Year", and consumers' demand for high-quality imported products will be further improved. French enterprises are welcomed to participate actively and share China's development opportunities.

Executives from the three industry associations of the Cognac Association, the Armagnac Association and the Federation of Exporters of French Wines and Spirits, and five corporate representatives from Pernod Ricard, LVMH, and Rémy Cointreau attended the meeting. Attendees expressed their gratitude to the Chinese authorities for organizing this seminar, to hear business concerns in person, and expressed their willingness to proactively cooperate with the Chinese authorities during the investigation and continue to cultivate the Chinese market.
