On July 17, CNOOC announced that the Xijiang 30-2B platform independently designed and built by China with a total weight of approximately 30,000 tons was installed in the Xijiang Oilfield with a water depth of nearly 100 meters in the Pearl River Mouth Basin.

It marks an important breakthrough in China's independent construction and installation capabilities of offshore oil and gas equipment.

According to reports, the Xijiang 30-2B platform is an 8-legged and 12-skirt pile fixed oil and gas drilling and production platform integrating drilling, production and life. It consists of two parts: the upper block and the jacket. The total height is about 198 meters, equivalent to 70 stories tall; the total weight is about 30,000 tons.

The weight of the steel used exceeds the total weight of the steel structures of the two Guangzhou Towers, and the projection area is equivalent to the size of 10 standard basketball courts.

It is understood that Xijiang Oilfield is 150 to 175 kilometers southeast of Shenzhen and has produced more than 100 million cubic meters of crude oil in the 30 years since it was put into operation.

The Xijiang 30-2B platform is the seventh offshore production facility in the oilfield. After it is officially put into operation, it will push the annual output of the oilfield to exceed 3 million tons, injecting new impetus into the energy supply of the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area.
