China's first fully modular ultra-high voltage substation was implemented in Jinhua, Zhejiang

According to news from State Grid Zhejiang Province Electric Power Company Limited (hereinafter referred to as "State Grid Zhejiang Electric Power") on the 18th, the main project of the new 500 kV substation in Jinhua Pancun started construction on the same day. This is the country's first fully modular ultra-high voltage substation.

It is understood that the new substation capacity of Jinhua Pancun 500 kV Substation is 2 million kVA. It is the largest power upgrading project in Jinyi New District in Zhejiang Province and the widest range of radiation. The substation will provide an important transmission channel for ultra-high voltage power to be fed into Zhejiang China Power Grid, better meet regional load growth needs, and optimize the central Jinhua grid structure.

Its construction project adopts the State Grid Modular Construction 2.0 plan, with the technical concept of "more integrated main equipment, smarter secondary systems, more efficient prefabrication and assembly, and more green and environmentally friendly". It replaces traditional manual wet operations through industrial means to improve the project While quality and reducing safety hazards, the project construction is more green, environmentally friendly, energy-saving and efficient.

Specifically, the project uses standardized design and factory processing to form prefabricated components such as prefabricated firewalls and prefabricated fences. Customized finished products such as high-efficiency and energy-saving transformers, prefabricated optical cables, and prefabricated cables are selected for electrical equipment. Eight individual buildings such as the main control communication room in the station All adopt the "prefabricated steel frame structure + finished wall panel enclosure system" model to promote the combination of mechanized construction and standardized construction of substations.

"It can be popularly understood that the equipment installation of Pancun Substation is like building blocks. Many of them are finished products processed in the early stage and can be directly assembled at the site. Previous firewalls were all built with high walls on site, which not only posed the risk of working at high altitude, but also affected efficiency by complex on-site environments and overlapping processes." Xu Bin, project manager of Pancun Substation, said that after adopting fully modular construction, the construction period of the project will be shortened by 4 months and is expected to be put into operation in March 2025.

According to the plan, there will be 30 projects of 500 kV and above in Zhejiang this year. The substation capacity of the construction projects will reach 30 million KVA and the line length will reach 2430 kilometers; the newly added substation capacity will be 3 million KVA and the line length will be 927 kilometers. Next, State Grid Zhejiang Electric Power will adhere to the construction concept of "standardized design, factory processing, assembly construction, and mechanized construction", carry out innovative research on modular new technologies, and promote high-quality and efficient development of power grid engineering construction.
