Silvera said that the project will play an important role in improving the safe and stable operation of Brazil's power grid, promoting the consumption of wind power and solar energy in northeastern Brazil, and will strongly support the green and low-carbon development of Brazil's economy and society.

Zhu Qingqiao pointed out that this project is a vivid reflection of China and Pakistan's expansion and deepening of mutually beneficial cooperation. This year marks the 50th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between China and Pakistan and the 20th anniversary of the establishment of the High Committee of the two countries. Brazil will also host the G20 Summit. The two countries will further align their development strategies, intensify exchanges and cooperation, and push bilateral relations to a new level.

According to reports, Brazil's Northeast UHV project is the largest transmission concession project in Brazil's history and the country's largest infrastructure construction project in recent years. The project was successfully won independently by State Grid Corporation of China on December 15, 2023. This is the third time that State Grid Corporation of China has won the bid overseas for an UHV transmission project after the first and second phases of the UHV transmission project in Brazil.

The project includes the construction of a new 1468-kilometer ±800 kilovolt high-voltage DC transmission line, converter stations at both ends, cameras and related AC supporting projects, with a rated transmission capacity of 5 million kilowatts. The project packages and transports clean energy such as wind power, solar energy and hydropower from northeastern and northern Brazil, passing through the states of Maranhão, Tocantins and Goiás, and can meet the needs of approximately 12 million people in core areas such as the Federal District of the Capital of Brazil. The electricity needs are planned to be put into operation in 2029, with a concession period of 30 years.
