The installed capacity of new energy power generation reaches 1.1 billion kilowatts

The reporter learned from the China Electricity Council that in the first two months of this year, the installed capacity of new energy, represented by wind power and solar energy, continued to accelerate, and the power supply structure accelerated to diversify and green. Wind power and photovoltaic power generation have become the absolute main body of new installed capacity in China. According to statistics from the China Electricity Council, at the end of February 2024, China's coal power installed capacity has dropped to 39.3%. Driven by the continued and rapid development of new energy power generation, the installed capacity of non-fossil energy power generation has grown rapidly, reaching 1.62 billion kilowatts, accounting for 54.6% of the total installed capacity. Among them, the installed capacity of new energy power generation reached 1.1 billion kilowatts. In addition, as of the end of February, investment in power supply projects of key surveyed enterprises increased by 8.3% year-on-year, and investment in non-fossil energy power generation accounted for nearly 90%. Yang Kun, Executive Vice Chairman of the China Electricity Council : It is expected that by the end of 2024, the installed capacity of new energy power generation will further increase to about 1.3 billion kilowatts, accounting for about 40% of the total installed capacity.
