On March 25, the reporter learned from China General Nuclear Power Group (hereinafter referred to as "CGNPC") learned that its subsidiary Guangdong Yangjiang Nuclear Power Plant has been operating at high end and stably for 10 years, and has achieved a total of 338.586 billion kilowatt-hours of on-grid electricity. In 2023, it became the first single annual on-grid electricity in China to exceed 50 billion kilowatt-hours. At the nuclear power plant, the WANO comprehensive index of 6 units all reached full marks, providing a steady stream of green momentum for the sustainable development of the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area.

"The comprehensive completion of six units of the Yangjiang Nuclear Power Station and the continued high-end operation is an important achievement of CGNPC's promotion of the development of independent nuclear power technology routes." Zhao Fuming, Secretary of the Party Committee and Chairman of Yangjiang Nuclear Power Co., Ltd., introduced that as the nuclear power plant with the largest number of units approved for construction in China at one time, the six units built by Yangjiang Nuclear Power Plant are typical examples of the high-quality development of China's nuclear power technology route and are a key source for research and development with China's independent intellectual property rights. The third-generation nuclear power technology "Hualong One" laid a solid foundation.

According to reports, since the commercial operation of Unit 1 on March 25, 2014, at the pace of putting one unit into production every year, six units of Yangjiang Nuclear Power Station were fully commercialized in 2019, and their operating performance has continued to improve steadily.

In 2023, the average capacity factor of Yangjiang Nuclear Power Plant units will reach 94.8%, setting the best record since comprehensive commercial operation. At the same time, Yangjiang Nuclear Power Plant's on-grid electricity will reach 50.033 billion kilowatt-hours in 2023, accounting for 12.3% of the country's annual on-grid electricity. It is the nuclear power plant with the highest power generation and on-grid electricity in China, and the first nuclear power plant with annual on-grid electricity exceeding 50 billion kilowatt-hours. As of the end of 2023, the Yangjiang Nuclear Power Station has achieved a total of 338.586 billion kilowatt-hours of on-grid electricity. Compared with coal-fired power plants of the same scale, the equivalent reduction in standard coal consumption by more than 100 million tons and emission reduction of carbon dioxide by about 279 million tons, equivalent to afforestation by about 761,800 hectares, covering 95% of Yangjiang City.

In addition, Yangjiang Nuclear Power also focuses on production and operation development, infrastructure construction, implementation of people's livelihood security and education assistance, and solidly promotes rural areas by helping to establish village collective enterprises, carrying out talent training and employment assistance, and implementing "party building + rural revitalization". Revitalization, providing scholarships and scholarships to more than 3700 teachers and students, forming a good situation in which power stations and local governments coexist harmoniously, and jointly build and develop win-win.
