On the morning of April 8, China's first independently built polar scientific research icebreaker "Xuelong 2", which carried out the 40th Antarctic expedition mission, arrived in Hong Kong for a five-day visit. All walks of life in Hong Kong held a warm welcoming ceremony at Harbour City, Tsim Sha Tsui. This is the first time that the "Snow Dragon 2" has visited Hong Kong. Relevant responsible comrades of PetroChina Asia Pacific (Hong Kong) Company and International Enterprise (Hong Kong) Company were invited to attend the welcoming ceremony. PetroChina (Hong Kong) Co., Ltd. sponsored and supported the oil use of the accompanying ships of the "Snow Dragon 2" during the Victoria Harbour cruise.

During the "Snow Dragon 2" visit to Hong Kong, it held a series of environmental education and social participation activities such as Victoria Harbour cruises, ship visits, Science Museum exhibitions, and school lectures, benefiting the general public of Hong Kong and demonstrating Hong Kong's confidence and strength in becoming an international science and technology center. PetroChina's Hong Kong agency actively responded to the call of the Hong Kong Chinese Enterprises Association and donated 10000 liters of high-quality low-sulfur marine fuel to the organizers of this event to ensure the oil demand of ships accompanying Victoria Harbour cruises and demonstrate the responsibility of central enterprises with practical actions.

After successfully completing China's 40th Antarctic scientific expedition mission, which took more than five months and spanned more than 30,000 nautical miles, the "Xuelong 2" used Hong Kong as its first terminal for its return voyage, which is of great significance. Chief Executive of the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region, Li Jiachao, said that the "Snow Dragon 2" visit to Hong Kong will enhance Hong Kong citizens 'pride in the country's scientific research achievements, deepen Hong Kong citizens' attention to polar and climate change issues, and support Hong Kong in telling the world China story. As Hong Kong is fully committed to economic development, development, benefiting people's livelihood, and opening a new chapter of governance and prosperity, China Petroleum's Hong Kong agencies have always kept in mind major instructions to help Hong Kong's economic, social and people's livelihood development.

The "Xuelong 2" polar scientific research icebreaker is China's fourth polar scientific research ship after the "Xiangyanghong 10","Polar" and "Xuelong". It has a length of 122.5 meters and a displacement of nearly 14,000 tons., with a total installed power of 23.2 MW and a capacity of 101 people. In the follow-up, the Hong Kong-based institutions will also organize outstanding employees, young volunteers, etc. to board and visit the ship to experience the majesty of the "Xuelong 2" up close.
