From [Month] [Day] to [Day], a training workshop on "High-Quality Steel Materials Technology" was held at the Shangshan Institute, jointly organized by the Development and Reform Commission of Hebei Province and Shanghai University, and hosted by the Shanghai University (Zhejiang) Institute of Advanced Equipment and Basic Materials (referred to as the Shangshan Institute).
Professor Dong Han, a distinguished scholar at Shanghai University and the Dean of the Shangshan Institute, Gao Junzhao, Counselor of the Hebei Provincial Government and former First-Level Inspector of the Provincial Development and Reform Commission, and Wang Dayong, former Vice President and Secretary-General of the Hebei Metallurgical Industry Association, delivered opening remarks at the training session. Wang Li, Director of the Secretariat of the Resolution Office of the Hebei Provincial Development and Reform Commission, leaders from the Tangshan Development and Reform Commission, and officials from the Development and Reform Bureaus of Qian'an City and Fengnan District were in attendance. Representatives from over a hundred steel enterprises across Hebei Province participated in the training.
This event aims to further deepen the industry-academia-research cooperation between Hebei Province and the Shangshan Institute, focusing on the development of high-quality steel materials technology. The discussions will center on the trends in steel material development, the upgrading of general steel product technology, and the transformation of special steel R&D achievements.
Dong Han stated that the high-quality development of steel materials involves two aspects: diversification of varieties and high-end quality. Process innovation is the best solution for cost control, requiring stable products, low costs, and low carbon emissions. The development of steel materials is accompanied by the compacting of processes, the optimization of performance, and the digital and intelligent transformation. Facing the continuous innovation and product iteration in the steel industry, under the guidance of the "dual carbon" strategy, achieving green and low-carbon transformation has become an inevitable trend and a critical path. It is hoped that through this training, the importance of green and low-carbon transformation will be further deepened among steel enterprises.
Gao Junzhao emphasized that the high-quality development of the steel industry, as one of Hebei's important pillars, is crucial for the province and even the nation to achieve the strategic goal of becoming a manufacturing powerhouse. The central and provincial governments place great importance on the transformation and upgrading of Hebei's steel industry, actively promoting the implementation of the "Six Modernizations" transformation strategy. In recent years, Shanghai University, Shangshan Institute, and Hebei's steel enterprises have carried out multiple collaborations in the areas of high-end and intelligent transformation of product structures, achieving significant results. It is hoped that in the future, both parties can continue to deepen cooperation in various fields, jointly create a model of collaboration that drives high-quality development of the steel industry through integration of industry, academia, and research, and promote the sustainable and healthy development of the steel industry.
Wang Dayong stated that after decades of development, the steel industry in Hebei has achieved significant accomplishments in both output and variety. However, it is currently at a critical stage of transition from quantity growth to quality improvement. It is hoped that through this training, enterprises can gradually shift from cost advantages to quality advantages.
During the training, multiple chief experts and specially-hired experts from Shangshan Institute lectured on four major topics: the technology of common steel—rare earth corrosion-resistant common carbon steel, the high strength and high toughness of low-alloy steel—bulletproof armor steel technology and explosion-proof armor steel technology, special steel—fastener steel technology, and special steel—bearing steel technology. The atmosphere of on-site exchange and discussion was lively.
