The first unit of the hydropower station with the highest altitude and the largest installed capacity under construction in the upper reaches of the Yellow River is connected to the grid for power generation

The first Unit 5 of the Qinghai Mardang Hydropower Station of the State Energy Group will be officially connected to the grid for power generation on April 1, the backbone power supply point of "Power Transmission from West to East" and "Power Generation from Qinghai to Henan". The hydropower station is located on the main stream of the Yellow River at the junction of Tongde County in Hainan Tibetan Autonomous Prefecture and Maqin County in Guoluo Tibetan Autonomous Prefecture in Qinghai Province. The area where it is located has an average altitude of 3300 meters. It is the highest altitude and largest installed hydropower project under construction in the Yellow River Basin, with a total installed capacity of 2.32 million kilowatts.
