This high-speed railway, officially begins operation today!
Weiyan High-speed Railway opens for operation, bringing Shandong's high-speed railway operational mileage to surpass 2,000 kilometers.
On [date], the Weifang-Yantai high-speed railway began operation. The journey from Weifang North Station to Laizhou, Zhaoyuan, and Yantai Station takes the fastest 20 minutes, 30 minutes, and 40 minutes respectively. Laizhou and Zhaoyuan are now connected to the national high-speed railway network, further promoting the interconnection of the Shandong Peninsula urban agglomeration.
On the date, the first train arrived at Laizhou Station on the Weiyang High-Speed Railway.
According to the introduction, the Weiyang High-speed Railway passes through Qingdao, Yantai, and Weifang, connecting with existing high-speed railways such as the Jinan-Qingdao High-speed Railway, Qingdao-Rongcheng Intercity Railway, Weifang-Laiyang High-speed Railway, and Laiyang-Rongcheng High-speed Railway. The project spans kilometers with a designed speed of kilometers per hour, serving as a significant component of the national "eight vertical and eight horizontal" high-speed railway network's coastal high-speed railway channel and the main channel for external passenger transportation in northern Shandong's coastal areas. Upon its opening, the line will end the history of no railway passenger services in areas such as Laizhou and Zhaoyuan in Shandong, bringing the total high-speed railway mileage in the province to kilometers.

The continuous beam of Weiyang High-speed Railway's Changping Super-large Bridge crossing the Rongwu Expressway is one of the key control projects along the line. During construction, the route had to pass through large-scale archaeological caves. The project team collaborated with Shandong University to establish a research group on the "Green and Efficient Disposal and Settlement Control Technology for High-speed Railways Passing through Archaeological Caves," effectively improving the quality of handling archaeological cave passages and significantly shortening the construction period.
According to the introduction, after the opening of the Weiyang High-speed Railway, the Jiaodong Peninsula will form a high-speed rail "double-ring" network layout, with Qingdao, Yantai, and Weihai cities achieving "county-to-county high-speed rail connectivity." In the future, Shandong will also accelerate the construction of high-speed rail projects such as Jibin, Xiongshang, and Jinwei, further facilitating the travel of people along the routes, continuously enhancing the connectivity between Shandong and the Beijing-Tianjin-Hebei region, the Yangtze River Delta, and the central and western regions, and building the "Shandong Peninsula Urban Agglomeration on Rails."
