The procuratorate initiated public prosecution against Peng Guofu for suspected bribery in accordance with the law

Journalists learned from the Supreme People's Procuratorate that the case involving Pang Guofu, former member of the Party Leadership Group and vice chairman of the Standing Committee of the Hunan Provincial People's Congress, on suspicion of bribery, has been concluded by the National Supervisory Commission. Designated by the Supreme People's Procuratorate, it is being reviewed for prosecution by the First Branch of the People's Procuratorate of Hainan Province. Recently, the First Branch of the People's Procuratorate of Hainan Province has filed an indictment with the First Intermediate People's Court of Hainan Province.

The procuratorial organs, in accordance with the law, informed defendant Peng Guofu of his litigation rights during the review and prosecution stage, interrogated defendant Peng Guofu, and listened to the opinions of his defense counsel. The procuratorial organs' indictment alleges that defendant Peng Guofu, using his positions as the Party Secretary of Xiangtan University, the Party Secretary of Huaihua City, Hunan Province, the Vice Chairman of the Hunan Provincial Committee of the Chinese People's Political Consultative Conference, and the Vice Chairman of the Standing Committee of the Hunan Provincial People's Congress, sought benefits for others and illegally accepted property from others, with the amount being particularly huge. He should be investigated for criminal liability for bribery in accordance with the law.
