On the afternoon of the local time and early morning of today (month day) in Beijing time, the United Nations Security Council convened a meeting to review the Russia-Ukraine conflict. In response to the attack and smear against China by Robert Wood, the U.S. Deputy Permanent Representative to the United Nations, during his speech, Geng Shuang, the Chinese Deputy Permanent Representative to the United Nations, refuted him three times on the spot. Geng emphasized that China's stance on the Ukraine issue is objective and fair, neither supporting nor favoring any party, and has always adhered to the political resolution of the Ukrainian crisis. China's position on the Ukraine issue is consistent: ceasefire and political resolution. China's stance is upright and transparent, not seeking personal gain or creating confrontation. Geng pointed out that China, along with some "Global South" countries, initiated the establishment of the "Friends of Peace" group, with the sole purpose of achieving a peaceful resolution of the Ukrainian crisis and restoring peace in Europe as soon as possible. China hopes that the U.S. representative can correctly understand the efforts of China and other "Global South" countries, and can jointly participate in this positive political process.
