From September 9th to 10th, President Xi Jinping attended the 16th Summit of BRICS Leaders and the "BRICS Plus" Leaders' Dialogue, delivering important speeches at both events.

President Xi Jinping's important speech stands at the height of building a community with a shared future for mankind, focusing on the first year of the "Big BRICS Cooperation," emphasizing that "China is willing to work with BRICS countries to create a new high-quality development phase for 'Big BRICS Cooperation,' and join hands with more 'Global South' countries to jointly promote the building of a community with a shared future for mankind."

President Xi Jinping's important speech not only charts the course for the future development of the BRICS cooperation mechanism and guides the way to a new high-quality phase of "Greater BRICS Cooperation," but also injects confidence and momentum into the revitalization of the "Global South," sounding a strong call for strengthening multilateralism, upholding fairness and justice, and promoting common development.

"A gentleman acts in a way that aligns with righteousness for the sake of benefits." The BRICS countries have come together based on common pursuits and in response to the global trend of peace and development. Emerging market countries and developing countries share similar development tasks and common development needs. Deepening solidarity and cooperation among them is the historical trend and the will of the people.

Introducing fresh blood will bring new vitality to BRICS cooperation and enhance the representation and influence of BRICS countries. Under the personal promotion of President Xi Jinping, China proposed to initiate the BRICS expansion process during the "China Year" of BRICS, and the BRICS mechanism achieved a historic expansion, becoming the most important platform for the unity and cooperation of emerging market countries and developing countries in today's world.

Expansion is a significant milestone in the history of BRICS development and a landmark event in the evolution of the international landscape. After expansion, the BRICS countries account for approximately % of global GDP and nearly half of the world's population. The collective rise of emerging market and developing countries, represented by the BRICS, is fundamentally altering the world map.

The steadfast march forward of the vast number of emerging market and developing countries amidst the world's century-long transformations has made the cooperation within the BRICS mechanism more substantial and its significance even more profound.

Currently, the world is entering a new period of turbulence and transformation, facing critical choices. Should we allow the world to remain in turmoil, or should we strive to guide it back onto the path of peaceful development? To this end, President Xi Jinping proposed several suggestions in his keynote speech at the 16th BRICS Summit: "Building a 'Peaceful BRICS,' to be guardians of common security," "Building an 'Innovative BRICS,' to be pioneers of high-quality development," "Building a 'Green BRICS,' to be practitioners of sustainable development," "Building a 'Just BRICS,' to be leaders in reforming the global governance system," and "Building a 'Cultural BRICS,' to be advocates of harmonious coexistence among civilizations."

Emphasizing that humanity constitutes an indivisible community of security, only by practicing a common, comprehensive, cooperative, and sustainable security concept can a path of universal security be forged; to keep pace with the times, cultivate new forms of productive forces; to actively integrate into the global trend of green and low-carbon transformation; to uphold true multilateralism, adhere to the global governance concept of consultation, co-construction, and shared benefits, and guide global governance reform with the principles of fairness, justice, openness, and inclusiveness; to actively advocate for the coexistence and tolerance of different civilizations, strengthen exchanges of governance experience, tap into the potential for cooperation in areas such as education, sports, and the arts, allowing different civilizations to illuminate each other and light the way forward for BRICS.

The joint march of the "Global South" countries towards modernization is a major event in world history and an unprecedented feat in the progress of human civilization. At the same time, the world still faces severe challenges to peace and development, and the path to revitalization for the "Global South" is destined to be anything but smooth.

As the first echelon of the "Global South," the BRICS countries should demonstrate collective wisdom and strength, taking on the responsibility to build a community with a shared future for mankind. To this end, President Xi Jinping proposed three main points at the "BRICS+" Leaders' Dialogue: upholding peace to achieve common security; revitalizing development to achieve universal prosperity; and jointly promoting civilization to achieve diverse harmony.

Emphasize becoming a stabilizing force for maintaining peace, enhancing global security governance, and exploring comprehensive approaches to resolving hotspots; serve as a core force for common development, actively participate in and lead reforms of the global economic governance system, and promote placing development at the center of international economic and trade agendas; act as a facilitator for cultural exchange, increase communication and dialogue, and support each other in pursuing modernization paths that align with their respective national conditions.

The general trend is irresistible, and the tide is unstoppable. Standing at a new historical starting point, the BRICS countries should boldly ride the waves, hold high the banners of peace, development, cooperation, and win-win outcomes, refine the BRICS quality, demonstrate BRICS strength, promote the high-quality development of the "Greater BRICS Cooperation," and join hands with more "Global South" countries to jointly advance the building of a community with a shared future for mankind.
