The reporter learned from China General Nuclear Solar Delingha Co., Ltd. that on a certain date, the largest single-scale tower-type solar thermal project in China, the Delingha 50 MW tower-type solar thermal project of China General Nuclear Group, saw the successful topping-out of its solar absorber tower and main plant, marking the imminent transition of the project to the installation phase.

The project is located in the Delingha Photovoltaic (CSP) Industrial Park in Haixi Mongolian and Tibetan Autonomous Prefecture, Qinghai Province, and is part of the CGN Delingha Gigawatt CSP Energy Storage Integration Project. The recently completed solar absorption tower features a variable cross-section reinforced concrete cylinder structure, standing at a height of . meters, with a base diameter of meters and a top diameter of . meters. The construction utilized the slip form technique, with the foundation pouring commencing in mid-April and the tower pouring completed in days. The main plant adopts an integrated design of workshop and turbine hall, which effectively reduces the medium pressure loss in the main steam and reheated steam pipelines, enhancing the efficiency of the steam turbine generator set.

Currently, the project has cumulatively completed the installation of a certain number of heliostats, and the construction of the air-cooled island, chemical water treatment plant, and heat storage and exchange systems is progressing in an orderly manner, laying a solid foundation for subsequent grid connection and power generation. "The CGN Delingha 1 GW CSP-integrated project includes 1 GW of photovoltaic power generation, 1 GW of solar thermal power generation, with a storage duration of 10 hours and a CSP-integrated ratio of 25%. Currently, the construction progress of the photovoltaic power generation part of the project has exceeded 80%, with plans for grid connection and power generation within the year." Yang Tao, Party Branch Secretary of CGN Solar Delingha Co., Ltd., stated that upon completion and operation, the project is expected to generate 1.72 billion kWh of electricity annually for the grid, equivalent to saving approximately 550,000 tons of standard coal consumption and reducing carbon dioxide emissions by about 1.53 million tons, with significant economic and ecological environmental benefits.

Researcher Wang Zhifeng from the Institute of Electrical Engineering, Chinese Academy of Sciences, stated that the CGN Delingha 1000 MW CSP-PV-Storage Integrated Project will achieve technological innovation and engineering demonstration verification of large-scale photovoltaic, concentrated solar power, and energy storage collaborative power generation. This will significantly enhance Qinghai Province's capacity for new energy peak shaving and energy storage, improve the stability of the power system and the quality of power supply, and have significant benefits for promoting regional ecological environment improvement, green and low-carbon value creation, and sustainable economic and social development.
