China News Service: The member countries of the "Belt and Road" Energy Partnership have expanded to 30.
The Third "Belt and Road" Energy Ministers' Meeting was held in Qingdao. During the meeting, an expansion ceremony for the "Belt and Road" Energy Partnership was held, with its member countries expanding to cover Asia, Africa, Europe, South America, North America, and Oceania.
During his speech as the representative of the newly joined member countries, Iranian Minister of Energy Ali Abbasi expressed great honor in becoming a member of the "Belt and Road" Energy Partnership. He hoped that this platform would have a positive impact, strengthen global cooperation in the energy sector, and create new foundations for international social progress through innovative methods. Iran is willing to enhance bilateral or multilateral relations with member countries in the field of energy transition based on its existing capabilities.
Thailand is also a newly joined member of the Belt and Road Energy Partnership in recent years. At the meeting, Thailand's Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Energy, Piyapan, stated that Thailand recognizes the significant role of the Belt and Road Energy Partnership in international energy cooperation, as the platform can accelerate the global energy transition trend. He pointed out that the direction of global energy transition is already very clear, and Thailand will make a strong commitment to vigorously implement relevant policies to achieve the goals of annual carbon neutrality and net-zero greenhouse gas emissions.
Zhang Jianhua, Director of the National Energy Administration of China, stated in his speech that the Belt and Road Energy Partnership provides a diverse, open, and mutually beneficial cooperation platform, and it is essential to jointly build this platform. China is willing to work with other countries to uphold the principles of consultation, joint contribution, and shared benefits, actively expand the depth and breadth of the Belt and Road Energy Partnership, and assist developing countries in addressing the dual challenges of energy supply security and green low-carbon transformation, seeking reliable solutions to energy issues.
