On a certain date, the annual meeting of the "Benchmarking and Cost Reduction" activity leading group in the steel industry was held in Jiayuguan City, Gansu Province. The meeting aimed to summarize the experiences of steel enterprises in "benchmarking and cost reduction" in recent years, select outstanding enterprises in the "benchmarking and cost reduction" activities of the steel industry for the year, explore new measures, methods, and ideas for further deepening the "benchmarking and cost reduction" work, in order to enhance the market competitiveness of the steel industry and enterprises.

Tang Zujun, Member of the Standing Committee of the Party Committee and Vice President of the China Iron and Steel Association, attended the meeting and delivered a speech. Xie Feng, Member of the Standing Committee of the Party Committee and Chief Accountant of Ansteel Group, attended the meeting and announced the list of outstanding enterprises in the annual "Benchmarking and Potential Mining" activity. Gao Xinglu, Member of the Standing Committee of the Party Committee and Deputy General Manager of JiuSteel Group, delivered a welcome speech. Chen Yuqian, Deputy Secretary-General of the Steel Association and Director of the Industry Operation Department, presided over the meeting. Nearly representatives from enterprises such as China Baowu, Ansteel, Shougang, HBIS, Shagang, CITIC泰富特钢, Shandong Steel, Baotou Steel, Hunan Steel, JiuSteel, Henan Steel, Jianlong Heavy Industry, Delong Steel, as well as the Research Center for Economic Development of the Metallurgical Industry, attended the meeting.

Tang Zujun shared his views on the current industry situation in his speech and put forward several opinions on the "benchmarking and potential tapping" work. Firstly, it should be consistently pursued. "Benchmarking and potential tapping" and cost reduction are eternal topics that need to be persistently addressed. Secondly, focus should be on key areas, tightly grasping the "bull's-eye" of costs. Thirdly, it should be comprehensive and systematic, gradually establishing and improving a comprehensive "benchmarking and potential tapping" system, benchmarking in multiple dimensions. Fourthly, it should keep pace with the times, reflecting the requirements of industry transformation and upgrading. Fifthly, it should involve summarizing and enhancing. From an industry perspective, general rules of "benchmarking and potential tapping" should be summarized, and typical experiences that can be replicated and promoted should be refined. From a corporate perspective, timely summarization and sharing should be conducted to form a synergistic effect.

Gao Xinglu, in his speech, stated that "benchmarking and potential excavation" is a significant measure for the Steel Association to promote high-quality development in the industry, carrying multiple missions including enterprise management, technological innovation, and competitiveness enhancement. It requires continuous improvement and deepening. To this end, he proposed several initiatives: Firstly, seize the opportunities presented by favorable industry policies, enhance the capacity for resource and energy security, adhere to the "three fixes and three doesn'ts" business principles, strengthen self-discipline and collaborative innovation, and jointly maintain the stable development of the industry. Secondly, deepen exchanges and cooperation among enterprises, by benchmarking against industry leaders and world-class standards, to truly achieve high-quality development in the industry. Thirdly, continuously carry out green benchmarking, actively promote the green transformation of the industrial structure, proactively address carbon emissions issues, and explore new paths for low-carbon development.

The meeting reviewed and approved the adjustments to the leadership and office members of the "Benchmarking and Cost Reduction" activity of the Steel Association, reviewed and approved the revised content of the "Summary of Benchmarking and Cost Reduction Indicators for Large and Medium-sized Steel Enterprises," and reviewed the revised content of the "Selection Measures for the Best Manufacturing Costs of Ten Major Products in Benchmarking and Cost Reduction." The meeting also selected the outstanding enterprises in the annual "Benchmarking and Cost Reduction" activity.

During the meeting, representatives from steel enterprises shared and exchanged experiences in various aspects such as production and operation, "benchmarking and potential tapping," and management improvement. In the afternoon, the participants visited the exhibition hall of Jiuquan Iron and Steel Group, the stainless steel cold rolling production line, the Dongxing Aluminum production line, the Jiayu New Materials cold rolling production line, and Zixuan Winery.
