A water buffalo in Nanjing swims across the Yangtze River!
On the morning of the specified date, at the Qixiang River Mouth in Qixia District, Nanjing, a citizen reported that a large water buffalo was wandering by the Yangtze River. After kind-hearted villagers fed it and waited for half a day, the water buffalo still had no owner to claim it, so they called the police for help.
The police officers from the Water Police Branch of the Nanjing Public Security Bureau quickly arrived at the scene, expanded the search area based on the specific characteristics of the cow, visited nearby villages, but still could not find the owner of the cow. Where did this cow come from?
Based on the buffalo's natural ability to swim, the police analyzed and concluded that it might have swum across the Yangtze River from the opposite bank. They then reviewed video surveillance footage along the riverbank and eventually found footage from the surveillance camera at Shuanglong Wharf in Liuhe District, showing the buffalo crossing the road and heading towards the Yangtze River. The police continued to track the buffalo through video surveillance and also spotted it in the Yangtze River. At that moment, numerous ships were passing by, and the buffalo, amidst the dense traffic of vessels, appeared "pitiful, weak, and helpless."
After overcoming numerous difficulties and obstacles, the buffalo, exhausted, finally staggered ashore near the Qixiang River mouth in the Qixia District. The police found that the buffalo had swum for over an hour from the Liuhe District on the north bank of the Yangtze River to the Qixia District on the south bank, with an initial estimate of the total distance being several kilometers.
Subsequently, the police sorted through reports of water buffalo missing across the city and discovered that a water buffalo raised by Yang, a resident of Longpao Street in Liuhe District, had gone missing recently. The police immediately notified the owner to come and claim it. Upon on-site confirmation, it was indeed the water buffalo that had gone missing from the farm. The owner of the buffalo stated that the animal had escaped the farm because its rope was not securely tied. After a long journey, the buffalo eventually returned to its owner's side.
Subsequently, the police returned the water buffalo to the owner. The owner of the buffalo expressed heartfelt gratitude to the police for their meticulous work and the assistance of kind-hearted citizens. The police also reminded the owner to strengthen the security measures at the farm to prevent further loss.
