Confirmed! The Shenzhou XIX crew has a "later" member!
This morning, a press conference on the Shenzhou XIX manned space mission was held at the Jiuquan Satellite Launch Center. The spokesperson announced that, after deliberation by the mission headquarters, the Shenzhou XIX manned spacecraft is scheduled to be launched at a specific time on a designated day, Beijing time. The Shenzhou XVIII astronaut crew, after completing the in-orbit handover with the Shenzhou XIX astronaut crew, is planned to return to the Dongfeng Landing Site on a specified day.
According to the China Manned Space Engineering Office, the crew for the Shenzhou XIX manned spaceflight mission, decided by the mission headquarters, consists of astronauts Cai Xuzhe, Song Lingdong, and Wang Haoze, with Cai Xuzhe serving as the commander. Astronaut Cai Xuzhe has previously participated in the Shenzhou XIV manned spaceflight mission; both Song Lingdong and Wang Haoze are part of China's third batch of astronauts and are making their maiden flight. Prior to their selection, Song Lingdong was an Air Force pilot, while Wang Haoze was a senior engineer at the Aerospace Propulsion Technology Research Institute of the China Aerospace Science and Technology Corporation, making her the only female astronaut engineer in China and the third woman to undertake a manned spaceflight mission.
