China's cargo spacecraft is here!
近日中国货运航天飞机“昊龙”发布
该飞行器可通过多次重复使用进一步降低空间站货物运输成本
据悉“昊龙”将首次亮相第十五届中国航展
At the press conference on the Shenzhou XIX manned spacecraft, Lin Xiqiang, spokesperson for China's manned space program, stated that in [year], a solicitation notice for the overall plan of the low-cost cargo transportation system for the space station was released, and from [number] of proposals, [number] were selected to enter the detailed design phase. In [year], after a second round of selection, the "Haolong" cargo spacecraft proposal from the Chengdu Aircraft Design Institute of China Aviation Industry Corporation and the "Qingzhou" cargo spacecraft proposal from the Innovation Academy for Microsatellites of the Chinese Academy of Sciences emerged as winners, securing contracts for the engineering flight verification phase.
The "Haolong" cargo spacecraft, independently designed and developed by the Chengdu Institute of the China Aviation Industry Corporation to further reduce the cost of cargo transportation to China's space station, is a winged, reusable commercial space vehicle intended for low-cost space station cargo transport missions. The "Haolong" employs a large wingspan, high lift-to-drag ratio, and reusable spacecraft technology. It is launched by a carrier rocket, docks with the space station, and after undocking, it performs deorbit braking, re-enters the atmosphere, and lands horizontally on an airport runway. After inspection and maintenance, it can be reused for subsequent missions.
It is understood that the "Haolong" cargo spacecraft boasts significant cargo uplink and downlink capabilities, excellent flight environment, and efficient handling and support efficiency. It can further reduce the cost of cargo transportation to the space station through multiple reuse, jointly building with the existing cargo transportation systems a safe, reliable, diverse, flexible, and efficient space station cargo transportation system between Earth and space.
The "Haolong" cargo spacecraft model will make its debut at the 15th China International Aviation and Aerospace Exhibition in Zhuhai from November 1st to 6th, where it will be fully showcased at the commercial aerospace exhibition booth of the Aviation Industry Corporation of China.
