Canada suddenly announces: Revoke restrictions!
Direct flights between China and Canada expected to increase as Canada lifts restrictions on mainland Chinese airlines.
The Canadian Transportation Agency announced on its website that, under the direction of the Minister of Foreign Affairs, the Minister of Transport has revoked the restrictions imposed on January 29, 2023, which limited the total number of weekly round-trip scheduled passenger flights from mainland China to Canada to no more than six and prohibited direct passenger flights from Beijing to Canada. Effective January 1, 2024, the restrictions on Air China, Capital Airlines, China Eastern Airlines, China Southern Airlines, Hainan Airlines, Sichuan Airlines, and Xiamen Airlines have been removed.
The additional number of direct flights between China and Canada is about to start
Journalists learned from the Civil Aviation Administration of China that Air Canada plans to increase the current Vancouver-Shanghai direct flight from one round-trip per week to three round-trips per week starting from a certain month, and to resume the Vancouver-Beijing direct flight with one round-trip per week starting from a certain month in the year. Meanwhile, Chinese airlines are also accelerating their applications for additional flight plans. The increase in direct flights between China and Canada by both Chinese and Canadian airlines will help meet the needs of personnel exchanges and economic and trade activities between the two countries, and promote the further recovery of the China-Canada aviation transport market. After multiple rounds of consultations between the civil aviation authorities of China and Canada, the direct flight increase work has been officially launched by both Chinese and Canadian airlines.
