The G109 project is a key project for the coordinated development of transportation integration in Beijing, Tianjin and Hebei. Among them, the G109 New Line High-speed Connection Project (Hebei Section) has a total length of about 2.6 kilometers and is constructed using the standard of a two-way four-lane expressway. A new Xiaolongmen Tunnel will be built, with a right line length of 2022 meters and a left line length of 2152 meters; 2 new bridges, 1 middle bridge, and 1 joint width bridge will be built; the total length of the new ramp and connection lane will be about 2.4 kilometers. The Xiaolongmen Tunnel project is the top priority of the project and has attracted much attention.

According to Kang Jun, deputy manager of the G109 project, the surrounding rock conditions of the Xiaolongmen Tunnel are complex, the construction is difficult, and there are many difficulties such as summer floods and low temperature construction in winter. In order to speed up the tunnel construction, the project department built a new inclined shaft with a total length of 721 meters., added a working surface, and carried out technological innovation during the construction process, established an intelligent production safety management and control model, innovated risk prevention and control methods, and changed "passive discovery" to "active prevention".
