Schneider Electric server data breach, hackers demand ten thousand!
Schneider Electric has confirmed that their development platform was hacked. Over the weekend, a hacker with the alias claimed to have successfully infiltrated Schneider Electric and stolen over data from the company's servers.
The attack was first reported to (former) using previously leaked credentials. The attacker claimed to have collected 100,000 lines of user data, including 10,000 unique email addresses and the full names of Schneider Electric employees and customers.
On a hacker forum on the dark web, a person named joked that he demanded , dollars' worth of "baguettes" as the price for not leaking stolen information (after all, Schneider Electric is a French company). He also shared details of the attack, claiming that "critical data has been leaked. This includes projects, numbers, and plugins, as well as over , lines of user data, totaling over compressed data.
Tell the reporter that he recently created a new hacking group called the International Contract Agency (ICA), a name inspired by the "Hitman" game series. This organization will not demand money from the companies they attack. However, if the attacked company does not publicly acknowledge being hacked within hours, we threaten to "leak" all stolen data.
Schneider Electric's representatives have confirmed the cyberattack. Time will tell if the stolen data will continue to be leaked and whether the organization will attempt to sell the data.
A representative from Schneider Electric told the media: We are investigating a computer security incident involving unauthorized access to one of our internal project monitoring platforms, which is hosted in a segregated environment. Our international incident response team has been immediately mobilized to address the situation. Schneider Electric's products and services have not been affected.
