On the occasion of the 7th China International Import Expo in Shanghai, the Investment in China Shanghai City Promotion Conference once again convened as scheduled. Chen Jining, Secretary of the Shanghai Municipal Committee, attended and delivered a speech, while Gong Zheng, Deputy Secretary of the Municipal Committee and Mayor, delivered a keynote promotion, introducing Shanghai's open policies, showcasing its development opportunities, and extending an invitation to the world to join Shanghai.

Chen Jining stated that the Chinese market possesses long-term growth advantages, the resilience of a complete industrial and supply chain, cost and efficiency advantages in technological innovation, and the advantages of long-term stable and predictable policies. The economic transformation of Shanghai is continuously deepening, new driving forces are constantly strengthening, and the city maintains strong resilience and vitality, which is of great significance for the long-term strategic investment and development of multinational enterprises. Shanghai will continue to create a world-class business environment that is market-oriented, rule-of-law-based, and internationalized, continuously enhancing the clarity, relevance, and effectiveness of policies. It looks forward to entrepreneurs, innovators, and investors from around the world coming to Shanghai to jointly create a grand undertaking. Choosing Shanghai, choosing China, is choosing the future and embracing success.

At the event, various districts in Shanghai signed agreements with foreign investment projects on-site, covering key development industries in Shanghai such as biomedicine, high-end equipment, advanced materials, fashion consumption, and green low-carbon sectors. A group of senior executives from foreign companies in Shanghai gathered by the Huangpu River, sharing their personal experiences of committing to Shanghai and their firm determination to deepen their market presence in China.

As a globally renowned consumer packaging company, Amcor entered China many years ago, starting with a single factory and now developing into a company with processing plants, offices, and an Asia-Pacific R&D center in China, with its headquarters located in Shanghai. In the view of She Xin, President of Amcor Greater China, the decision to establish such a presence is inseparable from Shanghai's excellent business environment. "The Chinese government has provided a favorable policy environment for foreign enterprises to develop in China, especially in terms of optimizing the business environment. A series of measures taken by Shanghai, such as simplifying administrative approval processes, establishing key enterprise service packages, and constructing an efficient international trade 'single window,' have effectively enhanced business satisfaction. Additionally, the policy transparency, stability, and commitment adherence in Shanghai are important factors attracting foreign enterprises."

It is worth noting that the CIIE also played the role of a "matchmaker" in the deep connection between Amcor and Shanghai. During the second CIIE, leaders from Yangpu District, Shanghai, visited Amcor's exhibition hall to gain an in-depth understanding of the company's upstream and downstream industrial chains, customer resources, future development plans, and technological innovations, and expressed their care. This ultimately led to Amcor establishing its regional headquarters for multinational companies in Shanghai's Yangpu District. She Xin stated that this is a vivid illustration of transforming from a CIIE exhibitor to an investor.

Shanghai's open, friendly, and continuously optimized business environment, along with its unique industrial advantages, has also attracted the Schindler Group, which was founded in the year. This century-old Swiss enterprise entered the Chinese market as early as the year, establishing the first industrial Sino-foreign joint venture in China. In the year, Schindler's escalator factory was established in Shanghai, and it has now been in operation for over years.

According to Qiu Hai, Global President of Schindler's Escalator Division, Shanghai has certain advantages in policy support, industrial chain agglomeration, talent and innovation, as well as regulatory enforcement, laying a solid foundation for Schindler's development in the Chinese market. "China, as the country with the largest number of elevators globally, is also one of Schindler's most important markets. We will continue to deepen our presence in the Chinese market, expand our maintenance business, drive technological innovation and digital development, and achieve steady and sustainable growth."

At the event, reporters also spotted Medtronic, a "regular attendee" of the CIIE. Over the past thirty-five years, Medtronic, with its Greater China headquarters in Shanghai as the center, has continuously increased investment in Shanghai and China, building a comprehensive value chain system covering research and development, production, sales, training, incubation, and venture capital, and continuously expanding its scale. "China is a significant strategic market for Medtronic," said Deng Jian, Vice President of Commercial Operations Services for Medtronic Greater China. "We firmly believe that China will become the world's largest medical device market and one of the important sources of innovation."

As a "veteran friend" who has attended the CIIE seven times, Medtronic has seen nearly a hundred CIIE star products transition from "exhibits to commodities." The spillover effects of the CIIE are also continuously driving the layout and upgrading of Medtronic's local value chain. On a certain day, Medtronic Kandy signed an investment cooperation agreement with Changzhou National Hi-Tech District; since its upgrade in 2019, the Medtronic Conform Changzhou Science and Technology Park has birthed multiple local orthopedic and neuro products; the Medtronic Lingang Medical Technology Industrial Base, unveiled in 2020, completed the first product roll-off in a certain month this year.
