The first offshore photovoltaic project in China built in high wind speed areas, the Dongshan Xingchen Zhaowan Megawatt Offshore Photovoltaic Power Station Project by the Three Gorges Group, has successfully connected its first batch of power generation units to the grid recently.

The project is located in the waters of Xingchen Town and Qianlou Town, Dongshan County, Fujian Province. The region has an average annual sunshine duration of hours, abundant solar energy resources, an average annual wind speed of . meters per second, and a maximum wind speed of up to meters per second.
