首钢朗泽含二氧化碳工业尾气生物合成无水乙醇项目正式开工
On a certain date, the groundbreaking ceremony for the project of bio-synthetic anhydrous ethanol from industrial tail gas containing carbon dioxide, independently developed by Beijing Shougang Lanze Technology Co., Ltd., was held at its Hebei production base—within the premises of Hebei Shoulang New Energy Technology Co., Ltd. in Caofeidian District, Tangshan City, Hebei Province. This project has been included in the "List of Green and Low-Carbon Advanced Technology Demonstration Projects (First Batch)" by the National Development and Reform Commission. It is the world's first megaton-level demonstration project that utilizes industrial tail gas containing carbon dioxide from steel plants, synthesizing anhydrous ethanol through bio-fermentation technology.
It is reported that the project employs the gas continuous biofermentation technology independently developed by Shougang Lanza, using coke oven and converter gas containing carbon dioxide from Shougang Jingtang as raw materials. Through processes such as gas pretreatment, fermentation, distillation, and dehydration, it produces anhydrous ethanol and new feed protein. This technology is at an internationally leading level, with each ton of ethanol production directly consuming approximately . tons of carbon dioxide.
Upon completion and commencement of operation, the project will annually produce . million tons of anhydrous ethanol, tons of protein feed, and million standard cubic meters of biogas. It is expected to generate annual sales revenue of . billion yuan and can be widely applied in sectors such as steel, coking, and oil refining. This will serve as a good demonstration and leading role in promoting the green, low-carbon, and circular economic development in the industrial sector.
In recent years, Shougang LanzaTech has relied on the "strain research - pilot scale-up - industrial application - industrial promotion" innovation system to overcome multiple technical bottlenecks, successfully integrating the entire system process, achieving significant technological breakthroughs in the resource and large-scale utilization of carbon dioxide, further solidifying Shougang LanzaTech's leading position in the fields of biomanufacturing and (carbon capture, utilization, and storage technology).

TISCO helps localize my country's photovoltaic polysilicon core equipment
Global launch of alloy wide and thick plates with a single weight ton or more
On the date, a reporter from China Metallurgical News learned from China Baowu Taiyuan Iron and Steel (Group) Co., Ltd. that Qinghai Asia Silicon Semiconductor Co., Ltd. sent a letter of thanks to Taiyuan Iron and Steel earlier this month, expressing gratitude for Taiyuan Iron and Steel's significant contribution to the successful and timely commissioning of the first domestically produced photovoltaic polysilicon core equipment, the cold hydrogenation reactor.
It is reported that in the month of the year, China's first set of photovoltaic polysilicon core equipment, the cold hydrogenation reactor, was successfully and safely put into operation on time at Asia Silicon Industry, using entirely domestically produced materials. This achievement marks a transformation from reliance on imports to domestic self-supply, making it a milestone event in the construction of China's clean and renewable energy industry, and holds strategic significance for promoting the development of the new energy industry. As of now, the equipment has been operating smoothly.
Today, the photovoltaic industry has become a pillar of China's new energy sector. China's photovoltaic industry has maintained global leadership for many years in terms of technological capabilities, power generation, and installed capacity, with a broad market outlook. The demand for key materials in photovoltaic conversion, such as polysilicon, has also surged rapidly. As market competition intensifies, the core equipment for polysilicon production, the cold hydrogenation reactor, is evolving towards larger size and higher parameters. This development necessitates the rapid large-scale supply and upgrading of key materials, such as iron-nickel-based alloys, with requirements for greater thickness and single weight.
For a long time, the polycrystalline silicon core equipment reactor has relied on imported iron-nickel-based alloy wide and thick plate materials, which have been constrained by small specifications, high costs, and long delivery cycles, becoming a bottleneck in the development of the polycrystalline silicon industry, urgently requiring localization. The customer not only demanded stringent performance requirements such as high temperature resistance, high pressure resistance, strong corrosion resistance, and extremely high surface quality for this product, but also unprecedented requirements for thickness and plate weight, presenting extraordinary technical challenges. Domestic steel mills had never before supplied such products.
In the first half of the year, Taiyuan Iron and Steel (TISCO) took on the mission of achieving localization and large-scale supply breakthroughs in key materials for the photovoltaic industry. Through arduous technical efforts, TISCO boldly adopted an efficient short-process technology route, resolving a series of technical challenges in the production of wide and thick plates made from iron-nickel-based alloys. This led to significant innovations in the production process, allowing TISCO to independently develop high-performance, high-quality wide and thick plates, which were successfully mass-supplied in the same year. Subsequently, in response to the upgraded material selection requirements for polysilicon projects, TISCO achieved a global first by producing alloy wide and thick plates weighing over 100 tons, filling a market gap.
In the month and year, the research and development project won the first prize of the Metallurgical Science and Technology Award from the China Iron and Steel Industry Association and the China Metal Society; in the same month and year, it was also nominated for the "Prize" Annual Innovation Award by the World Steel Association for the year (the 10th session).
