Xi Jinping meets with Australia Prime Minister Albanese
On the morning of the local date, President Xi Jinping met with Australian Prime Minister Albanese during his attendance at the G20 Leaders' Summit in Rio de Janeiro.
Xi Jinping pointed out that in the previous month, we had in-depth communication in Beijing on strategic, overall, and directional issues concerning the long-term development of China-Australia relations. Over the past year, the two countries have maintained close communication and exchanges at all levels, actively advancing the implementation of the important consensus we reached, and have made positive progress. There are no fundamental conflicts of interest between China and Australia. As long as both sides adhere to mutual respect, equality, mutual benefit, and seeking common ground while reserving differences, the China-Australia relationship will certainly develop well. China is willing to work with Australia to promote the building of a more mature, stable, and fruitful comprehensive strategic partnership, injecting more stability and certainty into the region and the world.
Xi Jinping pointed out that a record number of Australian enterprises participated in this year's China International Import Expo, which is a "vote of confidence" from Australian businesses in China's economy and bilateral cooperation. Both sides should persist in expanding a mutually beneficial and win-win cooperation framework. China is willing to import more high-quality Australian products and encourages Chinese enterprises to invest and start businesses in Australia. It is hoped that Australia will provide a fair, transparent, and non-discriminatory business environment for Chinese enterprises. Both China and Australia are supporters and defenders of economic globalization and free trade. The two sides should strengthen coordination and cooperation, oppose protectionism, and promote opportunities and benefits for all countries through openness, achieving common development.
Albanese stated that he is delighted to meet with President Xi Jinping again on the occasion of the 10th anniversary of the establishment of the comprehensive strategic partnership between Australia and China. Since his visit to China last year, the relationship between Australia and China has made encouraging progress in various fields, including trade, bringing tangible benefits to the peoples of both countries. Australia adheres to the One-China policy, opposes "decoupling," advocates for the advancement of economic globalization, and hopes to strengthen cooperation with China in areas such as energy transition and climate change. China's development has made significant contributions to the long-term stability and growth of the Asia-Pacific region. Australia appreciates China's important role in multilateral mechanisms such as APEC and supports China's hosting of the APEC summit this year. Australia is willing to enhance multilateral communication with China to promote regional peace, stability, and prosperity.
Cai Qi, Wang Yi and others attended the meeting.
