Ministry of Foreign Affairs: Urges the US to Stop Arming Taiwan and Cease Undermining Peace and Stability Across the Taiwan Strait
Foreign Ministry Spokesperson Lin Jian said that China urges the U.S. to stop arming Taiwan and cease undermining peace and stability across the Taiwan Strait.
During the regular press conference that day, a journalist asked: According to reports, the Trump administration recently unfroze billions of dollars in "foreign aid funds," including $1 billion in military aid to Taiwan. What is China's comment on this?
Lin Jian stated that China is gravely concerned about the relevant reports. The United States' provision of military assistance to China's Taiwan region seriously violates the One-China principle and the three U.S.-China joint communiqués, severely infringes upon China's sovereignty and security interests, and sends a seriously wrong signal to the "Taiwan independence" separatist forces, to which China has always been firmly opposed.
"We urge the U.S. side to stop arming Taiwan and cease undermining peace and stability across the Taiwan Strait. China will closely monitor the developments and resolutely defend national sovereignty, security, and territorial integrity," Lin Jian said.
