China has lodged a solemn representation!
On [Month] [Day], Foreign Ministry Spokesperson Lin Jian presided over the regular press conference.
A journalist asked, On [Month Day], Canada issued a statement announcing sanctions against several foreign entities and individuals providing dual-use items to Russia, including over a dozen Chinese entities. What is China's comment on this?
Lin Jian stated that China consistently opposes unilateral sanctions that lack a basis in international law and are not authorized by the UN Security Council. Canada's sanctions against Chinese entities are completely unreasonable and utterly wrong. China firmly opposes this and has lodged a solemn démarche with Canada in this regard.
Lin Jian stressed that on the Ukraine issue, China has always maintained an objective and fair position and is committed to promoting a political settlement of the crisis. China has never provided lethal weapons to any party to the conflict, strictly controls the export of dual-use items, and has the strictest drone export control measures and scope in the world.
Like any other country, China engages in normal economic and trade cooperation with Russia on the basis of equality and mutual benefit, which is reasonable and lawful and beyond reproach. China urges Canada to immediately revoke the wrong decision. We will take necessary measures to resolutely safeguard the legitimate rights and interests of Chinese enterprises.
