In order to ensure power supply in 2024, promote power market construction and market supervision, and further give play to the role of power plant-grid communication and coordination mechanism, on March 28, the National Energy Administration held the 2024 Power Dispatching, Trading and Market Order Joint Conference of Power Plants and Grids in Beijing. Song Hongkun, member of the Party Group and deputy director of the National Energy Administration, attended the meeting and delivered a speech.

The meeting emphasized that various important decisions and measures from the CPC Central Committee and the State Council have pointed out the direction for further improving work on energy regulation and provided the basis for compliance. This year, the National Energy Administration will focus on regulation, adhere to a problem-oriented approach, deeply implement the new strategy of energy security, anchor the promotion of high-quality energy development as a main line, and anchor the two goals of guaranteeing energy security and promoting green and low-carbon transformation, with the focus on doing a good job in energy security and supply, clean energy development, construction of a national unified electricity market system, natural monopoly segments, electricity market order, and energy consumption in the people's livelihood fields.

The meeting pointed out that 2024 marks the 10th anniversary of the "four revolutions and one cooperation" new energy security strategy proposed by General Secretary Xi Jinping. The power companies should take the initiative, fulfill their responsibilities, strengthen coordination, form joint efforts, serve the overall situation of ensuring electricity safety and supply, maintain a fair and just market, and jointly promote the high-quality development of electricity.

At the meeting, the Beijing Power Exchange Center and the Guangzhou Power Exchange Center introduced the power market trading in 2023 and the trading organization arrangements in 2024; the Market Supervision Department of the National Energy Administration reported on the construction of the power market and the supervision of the market; State Grid, Southern Grid, Inner Mongolia Power Company, China Huaneng Group, China Datang Group, China Huadian Group, State Power Investment Corporation, China Energy Investment Corporation Ltd., China Three Gorges Group, China National Nuclear Corporation, China General Nuclear Power Corporation, China Coal Group, China Resources Power and Guodian Power Exchange all gave speeches around issues including production and operation, market construction, trading order and key tasks in 2024, and put forward opinions and suggestions.
