On March 27, the standard project "Determination of Antioxidant and Anti-Icing Agent Content in Jet Fuels" proposed by the China Petroleum and Petrochemical Research Institute successfully passed the vote of the ASTM (American Society for Testing and Materials) Petroleum Products and Lubricants Technical Committee, officially moving from the project establishment stage to the formulation stage. This is the first time that PetroChina has taken the lead in formulating international standards in the field of clean fuels.

The content of antioxidants and anti-icing agents is an important technical indicator to measure the quality of jet fuel products. In the past, the testing methods specified in international standards could only measure the content of one category separately at a time, which brought difficulties to the implementation of jet fuel product standards and product quality supervision. In response to this problem, the Research Institute of Petrochemical Engineering has adopted a solid phase extraction-gas chromatography technical solution, which can simultaneously measure 3 anti-icing agents and 7 antioxidants, and fully meet the requirements for anti-icing agents and antioxidant content determination in international jet fuel standards and national mandatory standards. The requirements have filled the gap in the field of relevant standards. This breakthrough not only effectively improves the level of jet fuel quality supervision and assists the development of new biojet fuel technologies, but also demonstrates PetroChina's scientific research strength and image on the international stage.

The "Determination of Antioxidant and Anti-Icing Agent Content in Jet Fuel" project took a total of four years from its proposal, cultivation and formulation. In the next step, the project team will strengthen communication and cooperation with ASTM, unite technical experts at home and abroad to promote the formulation and promotion of standards, and contribute more Chinese wisdom and Chinese solutions to the construction of the clean fuel standard system.
