Ton! Lao bananas enter the capital city.
On the morning of the day, the inaugural ceremony for the international cold chain special train of the China-Laos Railway (Vientiane-Kunming-Beijing Pinggu) and the "Jingdian Lancang-Mekong Line" was held at the Jingping Comprehensive Logistics Hub in Ma'fang Town, Pinggu District, Beijing. The first batch of tons of fresh bananas from Laos successfully arrived in Beijing.
The international freight train departed from the Vientiane South Station in Laos on a certain date, fully loaded with high-quality bananas from Laos. It entered China through the Mohan Port, and arrived in Beijing via a full-process cold chain transportation. This marks the first time that Beijing has imported fruits from Southeast Asia through the China-Laos Railway, a significant achievement in the unwavering promotion of high-quality development of the Belt and Road Initiative by Beijing and Yunnan. It also represents a new starting point for accelerating the construction of the Jingping Comprehensive Logistics Hub and promoting higher-level opening-up in the capital, signaling that more "ASEAN flavors" will be directly delivered to the dining tables of citizens in the Beijing-Tianjin-Hebei region via "express trains."
According to a representative from Beijing Yongxin Hengchang Fruit Co., Ltd., the soil and climate in Laos are suitable for banana growth, and large-scale planting has resulted in bananas that are sweet and delicious, highly favored by local consumers in Beijing. Previously, transportation involved local covered trucks to the border, followed by Chinese covered trucks to various markets in China, which was cumbersome and lacked cold chain facilities, leading to reduced freshness and increased bruising and costs during transit. The launch of the banana cold chain train this time has shortened the transportation time and reduced costs, while also ensuring the quality of the bananas during transport.
The bananas arriving this time will be distributed through multiple well-known e-commerce and supermarket chains, including JD, Meituan, Jingkelong, and Guoduomei. Customers can purchase and enjoy them both online and at major supermarkets. It is expected that they will be sold out within a week.
Relying on the China-Laos Railway and the Beijing Pinggu Local Railway, the launch of the "Jing-Dian-Lan-Mei Line" international cold chain freight train has created a new path for cooperation between Beijing and Yunnan, which will further expand domestic and international markets, smooth the domestic and international dual circulation, promote the global resource allocation function of Beijing and the border opening-up advantages of Yunnan, and achieve mutual empowerment and coordinated development.
In addition, Pinggu District has signed a strategic cooperation agreement with Lao Dahan Trading and Agricultural Integrated Co., Ltd. The two parties will cooperate in areas such as economic and trade exchanges, industrial chain collaboration, and the operation of freight trains, promoting the complementary advantages of resources between Beijing and Yunnan and expanding the influence of the Lancang-Mekong Express international freight brand. At the same time, efforts will be made to explore the establishment of a fresh produce bonded warehouse, leveraging the professional cold chain transportation capabilities and international port functions of the "Beijing-Yunnan-Lancang-Mekong Line" international cold chain train. This will facilitate the entry of more high-quality tropical fruits from ASEAN countries into the Beijing market, as well as enable fast-moving consumer goods, machinery, electronics, and other products from Beijing and even the entire country to "go global," achieving two-way opening and mutual benefit.
