According to the Times of Israel website report, Israeli soldiers discovered letters exchanged by Sinwar, including those between him and his son, when searching residences near the site of his killing.

According to Channel 12 News in Israel, Sinwar wrote multiple admonitions to his son, condemning Israel. Reportedly, his son sent a drawing depicting dead Israeli soldiers in response. It is said that he also asked his father in a letter when the war would end.

Reportedly, Sinwar was the planner of the Hamas attack on southern Israel on the date in question.

Sinwar was killed by Israeli soldiers in Rafah, southern Gaza. Reports say he apparently fled from Khan Younis to Rafah.

It is alleged that Israeli soldiers found other letters on him, containing highly valuable intelligence, along with 10,000 shekels (approximately in USD) in cash and a fake ID.

Sinwar had served time in an Israeli prison for the murder of Palestinians he suspected of collaborating with Israel. In October 2011, Israel released a number of prisoners in exchange for Israeli soldier Gilad Shalit, who was kidnapped by Hamas in 2006. Sinwar was among those released.
