Jiu Steel Clamps Down on "Key Points" to Safeguard Stable and Smooth Production and Operations
Since the beginning of the month, steel prices have plummeted, leading to increased losses in the steel sector, declining profitability in the aluminum industry, and mounting overall operational pressures on enterprises. In response to these market changes, Jiuquan Steel has planned and implemented a quality improvement and efficiency enhancement initiative for the second half of the year to safeguard its targets. All units have firmly embraced the mindset of "tightening our belts" and have vigorously launched special actions to improve quality and efficiency. They have placed meticulous management at the forefront, enhancing management effectiveness, achieving value creation, and working tirelessly together to overcome difficulties, resolutely winning the battle to safeguard profitability.
As of the end of the month, several units within Jiugang have successfully achieved their quality improvement and efficiency enhancement targets. Dongxing Aluminum Co., Ltd. has effectively combined low-cost materials, optimized cost reduction efforts, and improved production organization to increase output by . million tons. Hongsheng Power and Heat Co., Ltd. has seen a . percentage point increase in unit load factor compared to the same period last year, resulting in an additional . billion kWh of electricity generated; the replacement of new energy power has increased by . billion kWh, exceeding the quality improvement and efficiency enhancement target by . billion kWh, and reducing electricity costs by . billion yuan. The Supply Chain Management Branch has focused on lowering the purchase prices of raw materials, with procurement costs continuing to decrease. Other units, such as Shanghai Huachangyuan Co., Ltd., Logistics Co., Ltd., and Western Heavy Industry Co., Ltd., have respectively increased profits, Honghui Co., Ltd. has achieved a reduction in losses, and Hongyuan Co., Ltd.'s business results have improved month by month.
While organizing production scientifically, JiuSteel, in response to the situation of intensive construction project commissioning and complex process control, has tightened and solidified the chain of responsibilities at all levels. It organizes special meetings on a weekly basis to coordinate and advance key construction projects, optimizes production and maintenance organization in a timely manner, and ensures the completion of project handover, acceptance, commissioning condition confirmation, and production preparation in each phase. It has fully implemented safety risk list management for engineering projects, strengthened supervision and inspection in key areas and weak links, and achieved phased progress in key projects.
To comprehensively enhance logistics support capabilities and effectively reduce railway transportation costs, in the third quarter, JiuSteel made every effort to organize and coordinate ore output forces in response to the closure and suspension of the Jingtie branch line due to heavy rain and mudslides. This ensured the smooth output of 10,000 tons of Jingtie ore, stabilizing production order; coordinated the entry of 10,000 empty wagons into the factory to ensure timely external delivery of products; completed the maintenance of 100 self-owned wagons; actively engaged with railway authorities to ensure the continuation of approved downward adjustments upon expiration, and secured additional downward adjustments in transportation costs, effectively reducing railway expenses.
In enhancing the quality and efficiency of equipment management, JiuSteel has continuously advanced the implementation of equipment system standards and external audits in the steel, non-ferrous metals, and power energy industries, with a focus on conducting equipment management supervision at units such as the Carbon Steel Thin Plate Plant, continuously solidifying the foundation of equipment management. Simultaneously, at the production frontline, the application of intelligent maintenance technology projects for hydraulic and lubrication systems has been vigorously promoted. Intelligent inspection robots have successfully "taken up their posts" at Dongxing Aluminum Company and Hongxing Energy Company of Hongxing Co., Ltd., providing technical support that has maintained zero incidents in the equipment demonstration areas. Significant efforts have been made in special operations related to electrical equipment operation and accident control. The availability rate of key equipment reached .% in the third quarter, with equipment accidents decreasing by and dropping by .%, among which Dongxing Aluminum Company achieved a record of zero equipment accidents from the first to the third quarter. Hongxing Co., Ltd. and Hongsheng Thermal Power Company saw a reduction of over % in the number of equipment accidents in the third quarter compared to the same period last year, providing strong equipment assurance for the orderly operation of the group's production and business activities.
Under the joint efforts of all cadres and staff, in the third quarter, the production of major products such as steel, aluminum, and electricity at Jiugang met the planned targets; the overall control of product sales was good, and the inventory of steel and aluminum products reached the expected goals; scientific and technological projects were carried out, new product development volume reached 100,000 tons, and patent applications were filed. All technical and economic indicators were completed as planned, laying a solid foundation for achieving the production and business goals for the fourth quarter and the entire year.
