According to Taiwanese media reports, around 8:00 PM, gunfire was heard at the Zuoying Base of the Taiwanese Navy in Kaohsiung City, where a soldier was fatally shot while taking over a guard post. The Marine Corps of the Taiwanese Navy stated that the deceased soldier was a Hong-surnamed member of the Air Defense Security Group, who was on duty at the guard post around 8:00 PM when he allegedly died by self-harm due to unknown reasons.
