Recently, Shougang Jingtang successfully completed the production of continuous casting of automotive sheet steel with a large scrap ratio of over % in a single converter process, achieving a new breakthrough in low-carbon steelmaking technology for long-process production, and reaching a leading level in the industry.

Under the current "dual carbon" background, the large-scale pelletizing process in blast furnaces and the large-scale scrap steel process in converters can effectively reduce carbon emissions in long-process steel production, providing effective support for the expansion of steel products into the low-carbon field. Shougang Jingtang has always been committed to the research and promotion of low-carbon products, combining user needs for product quality and low carbon emissions to provide users with high-quality green products.

With the national "dual carbon" policy and Shougang Group's "dual carbon" long-term plan as the guide, focusing on efficient manufacturing, high-quality manufacturing, intelligent manufacturing, and green manufacturing, breakthroughs in key low-carbon core technologies, the promotion of low-carbon advantageous product development, and accelerating the building of core competitiveness in green and low-carbon technologies.

Shougang Jingtang takes the full-process extreme carbon reduction as its technical core. The Manufacturing Department, Steelmaking Department, Technology Center, and Energy and Environment Department work efficiently in coordination to jointly promote the design and implementation of the process path for high scrap ratio steelmaking. Since then, while ensuring product quality, efforts have been continuously made to reduce carbon emissions in the steelmaking process. Focusing on continuous production with a high scrap ratio, over a dozen trials of high scrap ratio steelmaking in converters have been organized. On the basis of ensuring stable end-point composition in converters, multiple measures have been taken to overcome difficulties, establishing a mature carbon reduction process route with Shougang Jingtang's characteristic high scrap ratio steelmaking in converters. Successfully achieving continuous casting production of low-carbon steel with a scrap ratio of over 100% in a single converter process and the production of automotive side outer panels with a scrap ratio of over 100%, the products cover automotive sheets (including outer panels), tinplate, home appliance sheets, pickled sheets, and hot-rolled sheets.

In this production process, the task force jointly advanced the design of the process route and quality assurance plan, fully leveraging the advantages of the dual-furnace process on the all-three-deoxidation clean steel production platform, effectively ensuring the thermal balance of the converter and the cleanliness of the molten steel during high scrap ratio smelting. The successful continuous casting production of automotive sheet steel with a scrap ratio of over % marks a new step forward in the mass production capability of low-carbon emission automotive sheets at Shougang Jingtang.
